Boyd Kendall Douglas

At 3:39 this afternoon, our perfect baby boy was brought into this world. Boyd Kendall Douglas weighs 8 lbs, 11 ozs and is 20 inches long. He is such a beautiful little boy!!

It really was a good day. And I learned one thing today...child birth really isn't all that bad. My pitocin was started this morning at about 6:30. By just after 9 I had received my epidural and life was good!! My doctor broke my water at around 10:30, at which point I was only dilated to a 4. By about 2 o'clock or so, I was fully dilated. We started some practice pushes at about 2:30 and then went onto the real thing sometime between 2:45 and 3:00, and he was born at 3:39.

TJ did awesome. We've been worried about how he would do in the delivery since before we ever got pregnant. He has a weak stomache...so his game plan was to just stay at my head and look at the wall. But he actually ended up watching pretty much the whole thing. I was so happy for him that he didn't miss anything. He weighed a little bit more than we had guessed but was much "shorter" than we thought he would be. At first they told us he was 19" long. We couldn't believe it!! We talked him into measuring him again and the official length was changed to 20" long. Still shorter than I thought he would be. But for being 12 days early, 8lbs 11 ozs is pretty big...definately bigger than the average!! Just like we thought, he's got the cutest poofy little cheeks in the world. And he's got little rolls all over. Here are a few pictures from the day. It was a crazy hectic day with lots of visitors so I will take tons more pictures tomorrow and post some more. But for now...enjoy our little miracle!
